From February 4th to 6th, 2025, the World Hydrogen MENA 2025 conference was held in Dubai, UAE. Shanghai H-Ray Co., Ltd. made a remarkable appearance as the Platinum sponsor of the event.

The conference gathered an impressive lineup of industry leaders, including H.E. Sharif Al Olama, Deputy Minister of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure; Frank Wouters from the Middle East Hydrogen Alliance; Cornelius Matthes, CEO of Dii; Dr. Kapil Narula from the Climate Action Alliance; Dr. Nahla Abid, President of the MENA Climate Action Office; Dr. Assem Aziz, an independent energy transition advocate for the Middle East; and Ms. Stella Beck, Middle East representative of the European Green Hydrogen Trade Council. Executives from major oil and gas companies, power and infrastructure firms, and renewable energy companies across the Middle East also attended, contributing ideas for the development of green hydrogen in the region.

The Middle East boasts abundant solar and wind energy resources, with extremely low green electricity costs providing a natural advantage for green hydrogen production. Its vast land, extensive coastlines, and strategic geographical location make it a key hub for global trade in green hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, green ammonia, and other green energy products. The Middle East has become a critical region for green hydrogen development, with planned green hydrogen production capacity expected to reach 10 million tons by 2030, requiring over 100 GW of electrolyzers. Countries such as Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Morocco are actively advancing their green hydrogen industries. In 2024, Oman released its Green Hydrogen Strategy, and Saudi Arabia's NEOM project has completed large-scale electrolyzer procurement.

During the conference, numerous experts delivered insightful presentations. Dr. Christopher shared insights into the future cost structure of green hydrogen in the Middle East and the key elements of energy transition. Dr. Samir discussed innovations in green hydrogen development and Morocco's contributions as a hub for green hydrogen in the Middle East. Dr. Kapil Narula elaborated on Middle Eastern hydrogen policies, key changes, and certification requirements. Dr. Assem highlighted the critical factors for the success of GW-scale green hydrogen projects. Experts also shared successful case studies and current challenges in green hydrogen development in the Middle East, as well as strategies to overcome these obstacles. Notably, the development of a large-scale hydrogen pipeline network, spanning from the Middle East through North Africa to Italy and ultimately Europe, is a key focus. Countries with GW-scale projects, such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and North African nations, are actively planning and participating in this pipeline initiative.

Mr. Dalin Hu from Shanghai H-Ray presented on "High Efficient PEM Water Electrolysis Technology and Integrated Solutions for Green Hydrogen Production from Renewable Energy." Shanghai H-Ray's advanced PEM water electrolysis technology features low precious metal usage and a third-generation "roll-to-roll" membrane electrode manufacturing process, ensuring high performance, long lifespan, and exceptional consistency (with a deviation of less than 20 mV). The active area of a single membrane electrode can reach 3200 cm², enabling a single stack with fewer than 200 cells to achieve a capacity of 500 Nm³/h. H-Ray's electrolyzers have obtained ASME and DEKRA CE certifications, and China's cost advantages in electrolyzer manufacturing allow Shanghai H-Ray to provide high-performance, cost-effective solutions.

The RYZER® series PEM electrolyzers from Shanghai H-Ray attracted significant interest from attendees. These products offer hydrogen purity of 99.999%, hydrogen production pressure above 3 MPa, cold start time of less than 20 minutes, and the ability to operate safely and reliably within a 10%-110% power range, adapting to fluctuations in renewable energy. The modular design enables faster delivery times, meeting the demands of large-scale green hydrogen development in the Middle East. With a keen market insight, Shanghai H-Ray is closely monitoring hydrogen policies in Middle Eastern countries, collaborating with local enterprises and research institutions, and keeping pace with project developments to provide comprehensive solutions. The company is actively involved in early-stage project work, aiming for mutual success with its clients.

Shanghai H-Ray's participation in World Hydrogen MENA 2025 not only highlights the company's strategic focus on the Middle Eastern market but also represents the internationalization of Chinese electrolyzer manufacturers. This move injects new momentum into the global green hydrogen industry, fostering collaborative development worldwide.
